Laura Ross-Paul
Laura Ross-Paul's figurative paintings are luminescent productions of gestural emotions. Laura Ross-Paul obtains her radiant surfaces through a unique technique of mixing cold wax with resin that she drips onto the wet oil of her paintings. The resulting appearance is that of a soft strength; a juxtaposition hard to achieve. Her new series "Still Lives" portrays an emotionally lighter palette expressing change and growth as shown through images of: spring flowers blooming, young adults evolving and relationships developing. There is a connection between humans and nature in Laura's work. In her painting "Archway," two young men stand shoulder to shoulder holding intertwining branches that create an all encompassing circle representing the notion that life is one in the same between humans and the natural. It is a singular environment in which both factions are consumed. "My work focuses on the connection between people and nature. In each painting, the connection with nature becomes as important as the other person in defining who we are. We are as interdependent upon nature as we are with each other." -Laura Ross-Paul.

Regina Jacobson
Regina Jacobson's exquisite work resonates all that is beautiful and mesmerizing. Her new work reflects her previous style of Realism with a new spark of Surrealism. "This new series, 'Arch-e-types', which is a play on the words architecture and arch-angels, studies the female form while undertaking the subject matter of a hierarchy of angelic beings whose occupation is to watch over earth and humanity." -Regina Jacobson. The exploration of connecting spiritual beings to concrete, physical buildings portrays the imagination and irrationality found within Surrealism. However imaginative the subject matter of her paintings may be, Regina maintains her stylistic nature by depicting her subjects in realistic forms straying away from the abstract quality that many Surrealists render onto their canvases. There is both a vulnerability and strength that is found in Regina's angelic beings. It is as if the weight of the world, shown through the use of strong architectural elements, is honorable but wearisome on the angels as revealed through their expressive faces. "I'm truly most engaged in the paintings that uncover attitudes and reveal inherent st rengths and weaknesses that arise in daily living. As opposed to perfection, conveying vulnerability is more appealing to me." –Regina Jacobson.
