Artist Statement

The focus of my work is increasingly about questions of freedom, identity, and beauty. My ideas arise as a response to the world around me, both awe-inspiring and bewildering. I have recently explored our human niche as consumers in the series “Your Name Here”, as well as our right to privacy and personal identity in the "Privacy is History" series. I love to work in different mediums, allowing each to influence the process and guide it. I find the building, layering, and experimentation that is possible with open access to mediums from oil to encaustic an authentic way to express the layers of meaning we seek in our daily lives. I often make use of text, ranging from my own writings to familiar lyrics, found bits of paper, and random thoughts from the "inner conversation".
